Not dead

Working on one of the last dungeons. Omniax Building is already mapped, I'm in Banora at the moment, the last area before the showdown with Omniax takes place.
I have a lot of h/w to do, but I am trying to get it done before I go to my Mum's so I can work on CC freely up there (she has a computer now!!)

AND I REALLY WANT TO WORK ON THE GAME.
Believe me!! Everytime I here the FF theme I think of CC's credits theme and how awesome its going to be hearing it for real; knowing that the game is DONE, the story is DONE, and the world has been SAVED.
I've finished basically everything for the battlers, just need Miri's item and Jazz's poses (need to polish the base sprite- it's ancient!). But the main cast is pretty much done. I still have Limit Breaks to make, but only a few require heavy edits to their actual battlers (Kumo, Levi and a little of Miri). I have Kyer's and Shadz's Limit intros done, but I still need to make sprites for Trinity (Kyer's dog) and Shadz's other three forms (Death Gigas, Freddy and Chaos).
I could cheat with Shadz's Gigas and Chaos anims, but that would be lazy and boost the filesize in ways it doesn't need to be boosted :/.
We'll see how it pans out. I'm getting incredible ideas right now, but there is no way I can skip out on my homework. No.
*goes back to work*.

ontzontzontz

I'M DOING IT FOR YOU GUYS~

Currently mapping the last few maps of the Miehle Mountains. Once they're done, it's Ruins of Banora, the last few maps of Acaridae's slums and the entrance to the Omniax Building, and the final dungeon. Oh, and buckets and buckets of eventing. Like, I'm not exaggerating.
Then the game's finished on a 'technical' level. I still have a lot of graphics to finalize and polish, but this is how I work. Complete what I need to so I know what I have and what needs to be done. Once the base is finished, I can look at what I have left and evaluate how long it'll take me to achieve my goals, and if it's feasible. If not I may substitute/cut somethings.
Event wise I've finished Aetas, but I need to rewrite a few scenes afterward.

Here, have a couple of screenshots:

Rawgh

Holyyyy crap I have lots to update with. But I won't! I'm just going to tempt and tease you :3

I just finished the city of Oak- I am now testing it. I'm going to start Aetas very soon, I've got most of the mapping already done, I just need to make the events. I've got the basics of them already down but there's several complicated plot points that are started in Aetas. I've got a lot of the mapping done already for the next few levels afterwards (which is Oak return, then Miehlebin)
I still have to map the Miehle Mountains and Ruins of Banora. Once they're done...it's time for the final dungeon!!
I will still have a fair bit to go once that's done, though. There's several sidequests already in the game (Zane, Kupo Nut sidequest and Shiva) but there's also ones like Oak's Floodgate system (Leviathan), the Deep-Sea Research Centre(Bahamut), Aganog...there's also other side-quests on the main line, including a particularly difficult one on the science floor of the Omniax Building.
I've also got to figure out where the player is going to get the final weapons...

Anyway, I'd better go back to playtesting.

Uh, no.

I'm sorry everyone. I did do my best. I have been working as hard as I can on the game, well, as humanly possible with the amount of homework I have. But I'm no where near done. I have a lot of mapping done, but I have a shitload of story events to do, puzzles and other minigame to add, I need to finish the Crazy Motorcycle sequence, which works...partially. I have the city of Oak done...somewhat. I'm working on its Sewer. Right now, I'm pretty much working to get that done, and bring all the scraps together into something comprehensive. I have that enemy list, I'm slowly working through it. Planning bosses, sidequests, end sequences, even how the credits are going to look.
I swear to god, I will have this game done by the end of the year. If not, I will be polishing up and releasing what I have.
I am definitely replacing Elvoret as a boss because I just can't motivate myself to tackle that sprite, even if I'm not animating it. Now, I have chores to do.
Have some more art:

I basically made it so I have an idea of what I have left to sprite. A number of these I can use recolours or copies of earlier level sprites but still D:
Just pretty much finished Aetas. It's a relatively small town, very isolated. It's a sister town to Miehlebin, so...
I've been working on Terminal stuff too, I've written out profiles for all MC's, Arithial, Alicia and a few other important characters including Kumo's parents. I've also written bios for most locations ex:
Aetas Inconcessus~ The Town of Forbidden Time

A strange, isolated town on the continent of Ivalicia. It is a sister town of Miehlebin. The people seem very reserved and withdrawn and avoid interaction with others. The town is completely devoid of clocks, digital or analog, and do not use numbers in their time keeping, referring to the day’s sections as late/early dawn, morning, noon, afternoon, dusk and twilight.
Levi lived here for several years prior to returning to Acaridae to join Forest.

I'm going to soon start on Limit Break animations, but only after I finish Kyer and Shadz's battlers. They are my foremost priority battlers-wise because I can't release anything without them done.

I have homework to do so I might quit CC work for the rest of tonight and focus on that.
Tata, everyone :)

Sorry for the lack of updates D:

But I have been working. I mostly update at www.rpgmaker.net because it's nice and I get lots of comments 'w')/. But I have been working, I've gotten quite a bit of stuff done. I'm not feeling too well today so I'm taking it as an oppurtunity to catch up on homework (damn you h/w!! Daaaaamnnnn yooouuuuuuuu).
But once I'm done, I plan to sit down and write down enemy lists for the different regions of the World Map, do some more world map polishing, write down enemy lists for the Ice Caves and Volcanic Tunnels so I can get to work on spriting them. I'm still missing two boss monster graphics (Phantom and Elvoret), one because I haven't gotten around to it and the other because...it's flippin' Elvoret!!
I've redrawn Levi's faceset, as shown to the side. Oh yes. I am so happy with this faceset. I could not be more satisfied. Unless the ears were better....shutting up.
(It's flipped, so the ear stud is on the wrong side...SAI was being weird)
I've also evented out the bare bones of the Zane sidequest. I have to make the boss for it tougher because I beat it at level 12, which pretty much should be an absolute kick in the pants (the fight was long, but doable). In my savefile I have Zane and have just finished AVT.
Playtime: 3 hours, 42 minutes. D: I haven't even gotten half of the Keycards yet.

Shadz Barentain

WARNING: THIS CONTAINS SEVERAL HEAVY SPOILERS: IF YOU ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT COSPLAY CRISIS'S PLOT, DON'T READ THIS POST!

Name: Shadz Barentain (Originally Valentine, he changed it after the release of Final Fantasy VII)
Age: Appears 20, is actually around 45 or so
Birthday: October 18th
Shadz started out as a Turk for Omniax's dirty jobs, though he knew many of the scientists and researchers well. Namely, Yagami Atsureki, Alicia Ultma, Lucidia Selene and Lorel Camren, who was eventually dubbed 'Hojo' by Shadz after playing Final Fantasy VII.
During the research taking place on the entity known as Jenova and 'okam', Shadz met and fell in love with Lucidia while befriending Yagami. However, Lucidia left him for Lorel, and in despair Shadz decided to take a job working half way across the world.
When he returned a few years later, he discovered that Lucidia had a baby and had become extremely sick because of Lorel experimenting on her. He decides to kill Lorel and find out more about the baby, however he is stopped by Yagami and informed that the child is in fact his, and as a result of a genetic oddity in Yagami the child was able to carry and survive with Jenova inside him, which could potentially threaten the very fabric of the world.
Shadz decides not to tell Yagami that he plans to kill the baby, and Yagami says that he can never tell his wife about the baby, since it was Lorel's idea in the first place. He also says that his wife is expecting her own baby soon and asks Shadz if he likes the name Cloud for a boy.
Shadz says it's a bit of a strange one and says to name him Kumo, since it means both 'cloud' and 'spider'.
Shadz dons a new outfit attempts to kill the child a few days later but is stopped by Yagami who reluctantly shoots his friend in the chest and says he can't let him kill his own flesh and blood, even if it is a threat.
Lorel takes this oppurtunity to experiment on Shadz and attempt to make him strong enough to enable metamorphosis. He creates three forms, however he is still dying and in an attempt to save him Lucidia fuses tainted okam and Protomateria inside him, and is immediately put to sleep.
Shadz did not awaken until sometime during 2008 when a LANDSLIDE division was exploring the mansion. He befriends Kyer, who reminded him of Lucidia, and decides to protect her.
He eventually discovers Lorel's experimenting and almost hurts the LANDSLIDE members, but manages to control himself. He decides to track down Lorel and Yagami if he can, though he soon discovers that Yagami disappeared years ago, but left a living legacy; Kumo. He decides to try and track down Kumo and meet him, initially believing Kyer's sister's vaguely described friend to be him, but discovers it's Levi Raionomoi, who he has also heard of through reports of the Banora incident, and challenges him to a gun duel, but Levi leaves after the Banora incident is mentioned.
On his birthday that year, 2009, Kyer gifts him with an intricate, heavily detailed Vincent Valentine coat. When he questions her decision in getting him such an item, she replies with 'It...just seemed to suit you, I guess'.
Shadz decides to attempt tracking down Lorel on his own and fails miserably, and ends up getting dragged to the Cosplay event in Japan, and becoming the party's number 1 informant on Omniax's structure.
Shadz is generally broody and a bit of a loner, preferring the company of Kyer to all other party members. Lulu claims that he's in love with her, but he rebuts this and says 'That'd be a bit pedophile-esque, Lu. It's more father daughter in my opinion, since I am old enough to be her father.' He, however, is an invaluable team member and is extremely vital in plot progression.
Though his character was even removed from KH because of his similarities to Cloud, Shadz is fairly more similar to Levi. They both wear black and red as dominant colours, know fair amounts about Omniax and are prone from keeping major secrets away from their friends.
Levi also considered wearing three leg belts after seeing Vincent Valentine's Dirge of Cerberus gun holster, but opted for the single crossover belt.
Levi's simularities would be further thrust into the spotlight if a sequel to Cosplay Crisis was ever made (WHICH IT WON'T BE).
Note: Shadz cannot use his metamorphosis during battles, and remains predominantly cutscene-based besides the battle against Galian Beast in the Forest of Despair, where Kumo and Levi are attacked by him.

A good reason(s) as to why there won't ever, ever ever be sequel.

1. Geo-Stigma much
2. Whacked out
3. Levi would kill a serious amount of people
4. Levi would probably be the villain
5. So would Kumo
6. The world would explode

I'm sorry. I'm bored. I drank 500ml of V.

EDIT: 4&5 make more sense if you play the game to its fullest extent and fight all secret bosses.

What is this?

Aim to have full game completed: 1st/2nd of September, 2010

Aim for public release: 16th of September, 2010

Yes, you heard me right, I'm announcing a deadline. I don't know if I'll make it, but I'm going to do my absolute best.

The massive gap between completion and release is for testing. Lots and lots of bug testing. the 16th is intended to be the public, full, bug-free release of the game and though maybe a few graphical glitches/minor grammatical errors might be missed, I will not accept the possibility of game-breaking bugs being left in there. And I will be severely pissed off if I miss anything during those two weeks. When the time comes, I will be asking a few people to help me test. Preferrably, people who aren't looking forward to the game, rather people who will focus on the actual game elements rather than the game as a whole.

In other notes, Cosplay Crisis's system is finished (yes, INCLUDING Limit Breaks!) which means I only have to open up the script editor to customize materia. I'm currently working on mapping out areas rather than jumping straight into eventing. I've finished the World Map as well and two directions of the Ragnarok.

I've also decided how the party gets the Ragnarok. You know how in some games when only the party leader does things like ride down a mountain on a snow board?

Not in Cosplay Crisis. Your entire party will be in for the ride...on the same snow board.

:D

I just want to say...

LULU IS FRAKING AWESOME.

She is going to be in my party JUST BECAUSE SHE TURNS INTO CRASH BANDICOOT WHILE ATTACKING~!

BEST. IDEA. EVER.

That is all.

Vol.3 UP!

The art gets relatively decent page 13 and onwards (I think) and is cleaner and more refined than the previous two volumes.
This comic covers the period between about April 2009 to March 2010, if I ever finish it. It basically gives you a bit of info on their lives before the game starts.

I probably should started it from mid 2007 onwards, but I didn't feel it was right.

'Njoy ^w^

Wonder Circle Reworked

Alright Guys, one really major issue out of the way. I've redone the dialog and remapped the stupid area.

Levi and Miri don't find Kumo their either- in fact they decide they're going to leave him alone and explore other places. That's when the Event Circle stuff occurs.

Afterward you get called into the Infirmary by Lulu via Levi's phone. You get a brief explanation but nobody elaborates yet. Shadz says he needs to get some data from an Omniax computer located at the Fairgrounds that's related.

Exhibition Tower- Arithial shows up and summons Jenova LIFE, confirming the briefly mentioned 'Jenova Project's' existence. (Though obviously different than the FF7 one).

The building begins to collapse from heavy damage as monsters begin to attack it. Kumo and Levi steal some vehicles from the Display Room at the Exhibiton Tower and use the highway connected to 'Gold Saucer' to get on to the suspension bridge over a river that can be travelled under via subway- how you initially arrive there.

Tokyo from that point onwards is infested with zombies. Your party devises a plan using Shadz's knowledge of Omniax to obtain the ten keycards and infiltrate Omniax's main headquarters in Acaridae in a blaze of blood and gunfire to find a cure to the virus spreading.
Alicia announces her biological warfare plans on a world-wide broadcast. The TV Station in Tokyo is where they decide to head to try and stop her right then.

It isn't far from this point that you obtain the Ragnarok and though you have to go to the areas in a specific order, you can still explore the areas, you just won't be able to do any of the story events, etc.

In any case, I won't be updating as often. I'm going to take from SkieFortress's example and stop being so frivolous. I want to get this game done, dammit!
And thus I must stop distracting myself. So...ttfn, everyone.
I want to have this game released by September at the latest! So I have a lot of work to do!

Tweaking Some Stuff

I've been thinking about tweaking the Cosplay Crisis intro into a fully animated, detailed introduction, that actually details a little bit before the actual game started- when Levi is getting off his face (drunk) at the bar Miri works at. (He does this regularly on weekends- Levi is a bit of an alcoholic).
This is when Levi and Miri discuss the plan to bomb an Omniax reactor and Miri rings Kumo to organize the mission. Kumo seems to act normally for most of the phone-call, but there odd moments when he doesn't exactly seem himself...
Also, when Kumo wakes up the next morning, he goes through a regular morning routine- gets his breakfast, watches some TV, worries about something he seems to be forgetting, gets the newspaper without realizing Miri's in the hallway, and then reads the horoscope as Miri knocks on his door.
And blah blah blah.

I've been working out scenes for the areas in the Fairgrounds too. So far I have the Event and Battle circles basically finished. I need to rework the Wonder Circle so badly.
The Ghost Circle will be accessible without the cutscenes and etc. because it's unessecary.
You will be able to rest in the Hotel there, too, but the point is moot due to HP being restored at Save Points (which I might take out to spite you nice people, because I'm just like that.)
But there's a shop there. Wooo~
I also have to make Speed, Chocobo, Round and...finish the Exhibition Tower. Yeha. Then I can move on to mapping out some more Tokyo and putting in the TV Station.
Yey~

To finish, have some art that's not by me :D

The Calamity From the Skies

In Roswell, June 1947, a large object reportedly crash landed in Roswell, New Mexico.

Its arrival was hidden as well as its nature. Reportedly, it was an alien capsule. Its existence was blacked out, as well as all research and tests.

In 1985, the object was moved from is location in Area 51, Nevada, to a secure testing facility in the city of Acaridae, in Ivalicia.
The scientists there took a bold move that their counterparts in Nevada had never dared to do: gave the alien a name.

They called it 'Jenova'.

The testing on animals already completed, Jenova's cells were allocated to human testing.
In 1990, a virus was created from Jenova's cells. It was called the 'C-Virus'.

Depending on the individual, the virus had different effects. Many were horribly disfigured, transformed into monsters or living corpses.
Others had no effect whatsoever.

Reportedly also occuring in 1990 was the use of Jenova's cells to create 'replicas' of living human beings with the potential to carry and use Jenova effectively.

Very few people with the ability to carry Jenova resulted in this. The only way for the others to become 'whole' was for the blood of who they were cloned from to be infected with Jenova and then injected into them.
Until such a time that they are injected with this, the 'replicas' that resulted from the cloning are referenced as 'Genomes'.

From all accounts, there is a human being able to produce offspring that are 99% likely to be able to carry Jenova. He worked on the Jenova project and transferred to Acaridae with it, originally being a scientist for it in Nevada.
His two children were the ones used for the 'Genomes'.

Though the identities of them are unknown, it is confirmed that they do not share the same mother. His first child was, in fact, infected with Jenova cells through his mother while in the womb.

The other also carries Jenova cells, though was infected during adolescence.

Initially, it was believed he did not hold the potential to carry Jenova. According to a report from 2004, he was apparently spliced with the DNA of the first brother. This may have affected his ability to carry Jenova, or simply activated it.

The first brother is reportedly dead. The second's location is unknown.

There are several others capable of carrying Jenova. They are not properly documented.

Holidays (School ones)

Wow, 400 views? This might actually be getting somewhere!

In any case I'm about to start the remapping and re eventing of the 'Fairgrounds'.

Once this is finished, there will basically be nothing left of the original 'Cosplay Crisis' build from a year ago except for a few fragments of the Back Allies and the Streets.
It's kind of shocking. It's like I remade the game before it was finished. Maybe it was a bad idea.
Maybe not.

Anyway I've added a characters page with a brief description and a quote each. Don't come yapping at me about Levi's quote, either- not only do I agree with this statement, it also accurately reflects Squall's character- he avoids thoughts of the future and loathes the past.

In other game-related news I am working on a Computer Terminal which will be able to be accessed from a room on the Ragnarok. It's fully evented and allows you to access 'Event' overviews (paragraphs summarising a section of the storyline), Character profiles, Boss list (maybe) and an Image tab that will have no purpose unless you complete certain side-quests and unlock the artwork.
This will not be posted on deviantART, here, or anywhere else, unless it's in draft form, so these images will be brand new material.

And of course, a little menu with Exit in it.
I'm about to start working on the Levi VS. Aio sprites- a tedious, very trying experience it will be. I have gotten a bit way through it before but I'm redoing it now that I have a better Seifer sprite (too lazy to make character sprites for anyone other than the protagonists and antagonists- and Aio hardly falls into this catagories. More like the 'slightly annoying arrogant guy who somehow decided he wanted to be a bad dude. Woo, now we can kick his romanticist ass FOR A REASON.'
Ahem.
In any case I hope to get a lot of work done these holidays. But homework, my mum...they might get in the way. We'll see.

Progress

You know how I made that list before?

Well, with the demo finally released I can work on the actual game. Which means more MAPPING. But oh well, it must be done!
I'm currently still working on Forest of Despair but I'm almost done! Just got to put in a few more variable events and it's done. I'll work on the cave side-quest -later-.

I've only got a few maps to go, then it's back to city mapping- and unfortunately Tokyo isn't set out districts.

Keep in mind this is fiction and there is not going to be a Shibuya Station. Unless I call the subway that.
In anycase I'm not referencing any real cities while mapping because I am limited on tiles. And it'd be a great big pain in the kahiba!

Anyway, number of passengers required to be found has been reduced from fifteen to twelve.

I suggest avoiding multiple character groups (aka, the FoD boss fight, which puts the variable up by two) until the last minute, just in case there are any little rewards ;).

Now, back to work!

I'll add it to the list. For those without the RTP, the three files with yellow and green gears go in Windows/System32.

Then, just double click the game icon, and it's go time!

Game Overview

Here, have a wallpaper! (Not really)
This is not, I repeat, NOT, a plot overview. I will not be posting that.
This is, simply, an overview of the levels and areas needed to be explored and completed to finish
Cosplay Crisis. I might also put a couple of the side-quests in here as well (there are a number of them, big and small.)

-Game Introduction-Acaridae Exploring
-Reactor Level
-Cutscenes introducing next story phase
-Aeroplane
-Forest of Despair
-Tokyo City
-Hotel Cutscenes/Costumes
-Back Allies/Train Jumping
-Cutscenes
-Battle Circle

-Wonder Circle
-Cutscenes (uh...)
-Event Circle
-Redezvous in the centre
-Omniax/Exhibition Tower
-Heartless/Monster fight
-Hotel/Cutscenes
-TV Station/Cutscenes
-Mt. Fuji/Cutscenes
-Ragnarok Obtained-

-Omniax Building- Floors 60-70.
-Final Fights
-End Game

Side-Quests(Just a Few)
Rare Candy Sidequest: In every major city, there is a shop selling various lollies, and each one has a mascot resembling Cait Sith, who proclaims you cannot resist his selling techniques because...well, you're Cloud, he's Cait Sith.
After talking to him six times Kumo gets pissed off at him and he runs away. He apologises when you find him (I'm not telling you where!) and offers you a special 'Rare Candy' at a discount price. Unfortunately the first 'Rare Candy' costs $5000! And to top it off, all 'Rare Candy' from that point forward costs $9999. However, they fully cure the receiving party member and inflict all beneficial status effects. If they're really worth $9999, it's up to you.
Hey! I know you! VIII Sidequest
This sidequest, and 'Hey! I know you! VII' requires you to find and talk to members of the corresponding game.
VIII requires-
Irvine
Zell
Quistis
Fujin (non boss)
Raijin (non boss)
Seifer (non boss)
VII requires-
Cait Sith (you do not have to complete the Rare Candy sidequest to fulfill this requirement, you just have to talk to him once)
Cid
Red XIII
Yuffie
Barret (non-storyline)
Aeris (non-storyline)

Both sidequests reward their corresponding main character (Levi and Kumo, respectively) their final weapon.

I have worked on stuff, I'm just too lazy to take screenshots right now. 8D

Bwup

I'm not going to say much here because I discussed most of it on my main blog, http://sorceressstudios.blogspot.com. I'll probably end up updating there a lot because it's easier.
I've done a fair amount of work, which means that I have some motivation right now. I've mapped out a fair bit of the Reactor but I have no idea where to go next. I suppose I should watch an FF7 intro video or play the game, but right now I can't be bothered.
I implemented a few extras scripts, that have no in-game appearance other than making it look and sound good.
I don't know how long the Reactor level will end up being, but at the moment I'm saved at a false save point with 18 mins of playtime, but that's the full game so far. The irony is that by this point in the original, I would've been in the alleys at least. Probably even at the Fairgrounds and completing the Battle Circle arc.
Though it's boastful of me to say this, I'm finding battles enjoyable so far. It's nice to be able to run around and kick ass, taking names. Plus, I have equipped Levi and Kumo with Water, Cure, Ice and Bolt.
Which means, the Guard Scorpion at the end of the level will be difficult. I'll be warning the players of this, of course, and in the long run I already have a advantage over the average player. In some, very strange occurance, my Kumo started off Level 7.

Oh well. Tata, keep an eye on this blog and the hub blog for updates.
